Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. --
i'm about 98% done with this. I still have to go over spots that i'm not really happy with. Specifically, the lamp and the shoe-strings. Ahh. I'm the slowest drawer ever, I can't wait to be done with this.
Also, my scanner is a hoe. so please disregard how the shadows of the shoes look, because they don't look that terrible for real. =[
Very nice! Man, I'm looking forward to the point where I can draw that well. It'll take a while, but . . .eh, everything comes with practice I guess. I like the contrast of the modern sneakers and the old fashioned lamp. I'll look forward to the finished product, because I think this is marvelous in and of itself.

I really like this. Did you think of the bible quote first and purposely set up the still life, or did it all just happen to work out like that?
I like how it works with that particular passage, and the contrast between the new and old, the modern and the historic.
The contrasts of dark and light, to show how the light of the lamp is the lighting the way, is really nice. And just all the little details like the texture on the sneaker, to the pages of the book, and the metal of the lamp, make it work really well.
P.S. Scanners can really be a pain sometimes! Trust me, I know how annoying they can be! Hope to see a portrait sometime when you get the chance!
I really wanted to do a Christ-centered drawing, while my assignment for the art class was to draw shoes. Psalm 119:105 just popped into my head during my planning period and I just went from there.
My teacher helped me set up the scene and get the right shadows for the drawing, then I took the photograph to use as a reference.
Thanks so much for the comment, I really need to get my finished product from the teacher and upload it.

DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
